Our story

Elmar’s In The Valley is one of the best restaurants in the Swan Valley. It is a family friendly venue that celebrates traditional German and Australian cuisine in the tranquil surrounds of the Swan Valley in Western Australia. It is the largest German restaurant in Perth and the Swan Valley’s biggest beer garden with over two acres of lush green lawn and shady gum trees. Elmar’s in the Valley opened in 2005 after the success of two smallgoods stores in Highgate and Myaree. Unlike other German restaurants, Elmar’s in the Valley is not a German themed restaurant, it is German!

Elmar’s is owned and operated by Anette and Elmar Dieren. Elmar and Anette migrated to Australia from German in 1987, bringing with them German machinery, knowledge, experience and a passion for fine food. Elmar is a qualified Master Smallgoods Maker, trained in Germany. He works in production at Elmar’s Smallgoods in Highgate. Experience delicious signature German dishes such as the Schweinshaxe, Pork Schnitzel and gourmet Bratwurst, as well as Australian classics such as Chicken Caesar Salad and Steak Sandwich.

Next time you’re heading to the Swan Valley and want things to do, why not visit us? We are open for lunch and dinner. View our opening times and menus. We also love to celebrate Oktoberfest, the biggest beer festival in the world!
